assignment
This blog is not going to be very long because like an idiot i waited until the last minute to write it. In short I remember back in 1999 when i first really started using the internet and of course at that time all I really used it for was aim and yahoo messenger. The web sites such as myspace and facebook did not exist yet and I do not think ebay had taken off yet either. The internet has become a great tool and you can do just about anything that you would like to on it in this day an age. Over the past ten years I have watched it grow immensely from a world wide web to you tube to google to espn.com and so on. In watching the video that shows the history of the internet and doing the readings it is safe to say that in the next ten years the internet will expand beyond our wildest dreams. The question I have is what will be the next big wave of internet popularity. Where will the internet be in two years will it eliminate the need for print journalism. How much bigger can blogging actually become.m We dont even have to go to the movies any more you can find a way to get movies on the computer now in their entirety.

No one posted to you, so I'm posting. And I should add, since you already posted that you waited til the last minute, that EVERYONE waited until the last minute, so I don't have much to add to yours, because EVERYONE'S post is the same. It sucks.
ReplyDeleteEveryone in this class has the benefit of growing up, watching evolve, the internet. It's funny that although we're all on the outer edge of users who have shaped and created the internet, we all collectively represent who the internet was created for. Not necessarily us...I think really sometimes that single guys in their 30's, sitting online after work with a BudLight and no shirt on, surfing Yahoo are the real people for whom the internet was created. I have this online class, digital project management, and I'm trying to build my own website, and I'm looking up all this stuff on how to build one. One of the sites I hit was a free image site, where you can download stock photos to manipulate in photoshop and then recycle on your website...and I was shocked at how many nude photos of women there were. Which was perfect, because I need those for my site (skindeep...it just makes sense)...but what if my site was on elephants? Would I be screwed? What if I were one of those people who studies ants or something, on the fringes of public interest? We can all relate to a naked rack, so there's a lot of that going around? But those people who represent the minority--where do they go to express themselves?
Without technical knowledge, they largely don't. They disappear, and blend into the media. Ever seen that Michael Jackson video, black or white, where all the faces blend? That's what happenes to that guy who loves ants--he's just a shapeshifter in front of a computer screen, trying to find something close to himself to blog with.
And who can forsee what the future holds, if not us?
